What made you decide to start your business and become a female entrepreneur?
Life’s circumstances nudged me to become an entrepreneur.
I’ve always wanted to be a ‘boss’. I wasn’t sure if I saw this as being my own boss or employed. In any case after a successful corporate career and three kids later … I didn’t want to go back to being employed and living on someone else’s rules and time.
So during the last trimester of my third child’s pregnancy, I registered my business. That was in July 2008.
What was the process of turning your idea into reality?
I thought I had a process. What I had was experience and a trading license. And a very low self-esteem and too little belief in me. Idealistic ideas and a ‘business plan’.
The process I eventually fell into was my own. By challenging the status quo trusting in me and my life purpose.
What ways have you marketed your business and which has worked the best for you?
What’s worked for me is my website, networking, branding and the consistency social media.
What’s the one thing you wished you knew at the beginning of your journey?

How do you fit being a female entrepreneur around being a mother?
I don’t the one isn’t separate from the other. 🙂
Have you got a favourite quote or mantra that keeps you going?
Thoughts become things (tattooed on my arm) (Mike Dooley) and Only the impossible is possible(Mad Hatter Alice in Wonderland) and it only seems impossible until it’s done (Nelson Mandela).
If you could offer one piece of advice to the ladies out there thinking of starting or just starting their entrepreneurial journey what would it be?
Done is better than perfect!
Focus on selling first and for that know WHAT and to WHOM you need to sell. So get your marketing FIRST! Build yourself a name as the brand and sales, first three years.
Network everywhere and anywhere you can.
Know the semantics of Branding and Marketing and HOW it works THEN when you’re standing steadfast in YOU AND your Brand then only do you seek out proper Branding and Marketing and create your Brand Authority.
