It’s been a whirlwind of a year for the beauty community, and 2019 is set to get even more daring and outlandish when it comes to makeup and styling trends. There’s never a dull day when it comes to new and bizarre makeup trends thanks to the likes of Instagram and the thousands of innovative influencers creating viral worthy looks. Here’s a look into the biggest beauty trends to look out for in 2019:
Floral Hair
We’ve seen this look a lot on the runway, but it’s time the trend transcends into everyday life. Flowers and vegetation as hair accessories is a new way to add a touch of fun to your outfits. This is easily created by naturally woven hairbands out of greenery, or by placing flowers in the hair – held in place with subtle pins.
Nail Art
You may have seen the interesting corkscrew nails that went viral this year. Thankfully, nail art isn’t that extreme and they’re created with practicality in mind. Sticking diamanté jewels and metallic foil inspired textures are some of the best ways people have been experimenting with nail art. In fact, jewellery designer Anna Levenson even went one step further by attaching jewellery to each individual nail, a trend that may just take off in the coming months.

Statement Eyeshadow
After years of eyebrows on fleek, “no makeup” makeup, we’ve finally turned a corner. On the runaways this winter we’ve seen pioneers of next years predicted big beauty trend – statement eyeshadow. There’s no cutting creases or gradual fades with this trend, it’s all about bright, block colours taking centre stage. Think: canary yellows, fluorescent orange and vibrant greens.
Bold Hair Colours
Going hand-in-hand with the bold eyeshadow look, vibrant dyed hair or extensions are set to take over in 2019. Though we’ve seen innovative hairstyles and colours this year, bright hair extensions woven into plaits or braids is the next must-have style. Then there’s the candy pink and highlighter green temporary hair colours trend that will likely continue.

Arts And Crafts Inspired Makeup
Makeup has got braver and bolder, and people are getting more inventive with designs and application. Face glitter is one of the key components when it comes to arts and crafts inspired makeup, just this season we saw Jeremy Scott’s show featuring loose pink glitter makeup as an almost dewy foil lipstick.

Looking Forward To 2019
With so many predicted trends to come next year, it will be interesting to see which ones will dominate the beauty world. One thing is for sure, things are set to get more adventurous before they get any tamer. With Fenty Beauty putting forward a strong case for metallic eyes and Jeremy Scott pioneering glitter lips as an everyday makeup look – there’s no telling which trends will make their way into our daily lives and which will remain firmly on the catwalk.
